Hestia Sacred Strand

As people may, or may not know, I am a huge fan of Sacred Strands as a method of prayer.

I have created them, I have facilitated workshops on how to make them, I have guided commu ities in creating their own, I have studied them, and I have written about them.

Looking back over my blog, I have shared very little of that here!

I will dig out my articles and refresh them and share them here at some stage.

I found this in my Tumblr wanderings, and I think it is lovely.

The glory of sacred stands is that they are a uniquely portable item, subtle, and to me, are kind of like a shrine portal.

Found on Tumblr:

“I. Lady Hestia, Veiled goddess who tends the sacred hearth, I welcome you to this place.

II. I praise you for your beauty, And the kindness which you show myself and others each and every day. Glorious Hestia, May your fires burn bright.

III. I praise you for your power, For you were born of Kronos and Rhea, And are both first and last. Glorious Hestia, May your fires burn bright.

IV. I praise you for your high standing, Eternal maiden of the flame. Glorious Hestia, May your fires burn bright.

V. I praise you for your rising homes, For the high ceilings and low doorways which you possess. Each on belongs to you. Glorious Hestia, May your fires burn bright.

VI. When my heart is wounded, I pray you dress it with gentle gauze. Heal me, nurturing one, And bring light into my sorrowful eyes.

VII. If I find myself without shelter, Guide me graceful one. Show me the way to safety, Bring me sweet salvation.

VIII. When I must show kindness to ungentle guests, Gather patience in your arms and help me be virtuous. Let me allow Zeus to forge justice in their lives, And let me rest peacefully.

IX. In times of struggle and depression, Shine like a beacon, Warm and delightful, For myself and my oikos.

X. These prayers I have made, And praises, sung. Dearest Hestia, I bid you farewell for now and will remember you in another song, too.”
