Hypnos, bright-winged bringer of blessed sleep,son of misty-eyed Nyx of the sooty night,I call to you to grant me your favor.In sunless Erebos you make your home,
O Hypnos; each eventide you followin Night’s wake, fleet of foot, garlandedin blood-red poppies, their sweet scent a balmto those who seek your gift. Gentle Hypnos, child of night-dwelling Nyx,master of far-flung Erebos, far beyond the path of the sun, I honor you, I thank youfor your blessings. Dark is your hall, O Hypnos,dark and deep; red are the poppies that grow at your gate. Young and fair you are, O Hypnos,so beautiful in repose. Kind and good you are,O brother of death, O granter of restto the weary, of respite to those whose needfor your comfort is desperate and dire. Hypnos, fair-browed one whose gift of sleep restores usto ourselves each day anew, I praise you.
No secret that Hypnos is One that I honour, and I found the blog above with the above prayers to His Honour.
Wherever possible, I will amplify the prayers I find to those that I am in a devotional relationship with. It’s kind of an offering on a virtual shrine.
For me, it’s the last day of my working week, and whilst I always look forward to the embrace of Hypnos, at the end of the week, it’s especially sweet!
