Wholeness and the Implicit Order, 2018: Julia deVille @Linden New Art

Wholeness and the Implicit Order 2018

Linden New Art, 26 Acland Street, St Kilda

Amazing exhibition!

(I confess, I have been meaning to write this up for weeks).

Still running until November 04th, so if you can get yourself to St Kilda, I would recommend making the effort.

Artist’s site

Even if you can’t make the exhibition, the Linden New Art website has some beautiful photos of it, and the exhibition catalogue is well worth a read.

A few people I have spoken to have been repulsed by the slightly macabre stereotypes around taxidermy.

Julia deVille is an animal activist, as well as being a taxidermist and a jeweller – and this exhibition is both respectful (to the animals) and provocative.

TIP: In the ‘hallway’ of the ‘house’ of the exhibition are books – similar to visitors’ books. They’re worth a look.

If you go, or are familiar with Julia deVille’s work – feel free to share your impressions in the comments!
